Treasure Coast's Treasure
By Trish Beucher
USGTF Member, Jupiter, Florida

Fifteen years ago when Trish Beucher was only 16, she was given her first set of clubs. It was one of those gifts that leave you speechless. As a matter of fact, she was speechless. Not because it was such a great gift, but because it was such an unwanted gift. “Uh, these are great Mom and Dad, I can’t wait until I get to use them, uh thanks.” In her mind she was hoping for a car, but instead she got golf clubs that to her were totally ridiculous. She couldn’t believe that her parents wanted her to play such a boring sport.

Well, with a bit of prodding she took her first golf lesson and little did Trish know that the game would soon become an obsession. Golf became her life. By the end of the first few weeks of lessons, she finally felt confident to go out on the real course and play. Her first round score was a surprising 97.

By the time Trish turned 18, her golf professional asked if she would like a job as an assistant. Of course she jumped at the chance. In 1992 she became a PCS club maker and in January of that same year, she attended the USGTF certification course in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was one of the first women to attend the program and certainly one of the youngest. She was also the first woman to compete in any of the USGTF tour events.

Armed with the USGTF Certification, as well as the PCS certification, she then secured a job as a teaching professional at a country club in Illinois. While she worked only during the summer months, she went to Florida during the winters to work on her game and play some competitive golf in what was then called the Gold Coast Tour.

Trish now owns and operates an Indoor Golf Learning Center in Jupiter, Florida. 8:15 Tee Time Golf Academy is a totally indoor, computerized learning center with 3 full swing stations, a virtual reality simulator, swing and video analyzers, an indoor bunker, and a putting green.

You can find Trish just about every day working in her shop with her students, making custom fit golf clubs, or reading anything she can get her hands on regarding her mentor, Ernest Jones. With lessons booked weeks in advance, she is perhaps one of Florida’s greatest treasures on the Treasure Coast. The secret to her success is an ability to see and sense the golf swing and communicate that to her students while making the process fun. Trish teaches students who have never picked up a club, to people on a professional, competitive level and all those in between. She quips “My business is like the lyrics to that Christmas song about teaching kids from 1 to 92”.

So, if you’re ever in the Jupiter area, please come in and visit one of the Treasure Coast’s very best treasures. She is sure to make you feel welcome.
